June Support Group Summary
These are great ideas, and they may or may not work for you. We did however come to the conclusion that it is important to acknowledge these feelings of anger and sadness in order to work though them. Once you acknowledge these emotions you are able to try different techniques to make them feel not as overwhelming. We cannot make these feelings disappear completely, but we can work to quiet them so that we are able to function in our everyday lives. One integral part of this according to Dr. Rob is a positive attitude and a mantra or repetitive thought. Your repetitive thought may be ‘I am strong enough, I can do this’ or simply ‘I am OK’. Whatever it is that helps you is correct. It is just important that you stick with the repetition and one day the positive thoughts will come to you. Dr. Rob also mentioned several books that would be helpful in our journey, some are listed below but you can find the remainder of his suggested reading list at www.mindbodysmile.com. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho Next month we will be looking at ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho at the Support Group sessions in each location. Hope to see you there! Lisa Stack Leave a Reply |
