Pursuing a family with the Donor Embryo Program

At CNY Fertility Center we are always looking for ways to help our patients achieve their dreams, and create the family they have always wanted.  In the past few years we have been focusing more specifically on the science of embryo donation.  We have come to realize that by facilitating the donation of surplus embryos, we are satisfying the needs of many patients and furthering the amount of treatment options available.

When a patient has completed an IVF cycle, they may have remaining embryos that they do not intend to transfer.  What to do with these embryos can sometimes be a challenging decision for our patients.  Prior to the donation program, the patient had three options; transfer the remaining embryos, keep them frozen, or dispose of them.  Now, we are able to offer a fourth option of donating the embryos to another patient.  This donation allows for another family to be created, and dream to be achieved.

While the pool of available embryos tends to be smaller than the potential donated eggs, the program has many wonderful benefits.  The egg is already fertilized, and ready to be thawed and transferred as soon as the recipient is ready.  In addition to the fertilized state of the embryo the only cycle we have to prepare is the recipient’s, which can save time and may offer a more immediate result.  Subsequently important is that the cost of an embryo donation cycle is substantially less than that of a donor egg cycle. We understand that seeking assistance for infertility can become expensive, so we try to keep costs at a minimum.
