Clearing up the Confusion
How We Calculate Our Reported Statistics CNY Fertility Center is a member of SART (Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies), we report all of our data to this agency. All of our statistics are divided into age categories, standard in statistical reporting for ART procedures. Our delivery or on-going pregnancies are from patients that have had an embryo transfer. We take the number of deliveries/on-going pregnancies for each age category and divide that by the number of patients who had an embryo transfer in that age category. In depth statistical information for 2001 and years prior can be found at the Center for Disease Control’s website. We report pregnancies from PRIDE (donor egg) cycles separately from other patients because the age of the eggs that are donated are not the same as that of the patient carrying the pregnancy, and to include them with non-PRIDE patients would be uninformative. Patients having a frozen embryo transfer (FET) are also calculated separately since the procedure of doing a FET is different from doing a fresh cycle, and should be a distinct statistical entity. Other Ways To Report Statistics Success Rates can also be reported using a positive beta-HCG rate. The beta-HCG is determined from a blood test. These rates are initially informative because they give you the most current pregnancy statistics; however these statistics are generally higher than the clinical intrauterine gestation statistics, and both are higher than ongoing pregnancy and delivery statistics. CNY Fertility Center does NOT report success rates using postive HCG rates. We report success rates using clinical intrauterine gestations, ongoing pregnancies or deliveries, whichever information is most up to date.
