Injection Lesson Video for Progesterone in Oil

Hi!  My name is Lisa Stack, I’m the CNY Fertility Support Coordinator.  Today, Teah is going to teach us how to inject Progesterone in Oil.

Teah:  Hi!  So today we’re doing Progesterone in Oil.  So, you’ll have your Progesterone, you’ll have a 22-gauge needle with a syringe, and then you’ll have a separate 18-gauge needle.  To start, you’re going to take your oil and flip off the cap, make sure you clean off the top with alcohol.  You’ll open your needle with the syringe.  Immediately, you’re going to take this needle off and replace it with your 18-gauge needle.  The 18-gauge needle is just used to draw it up, it’s a very big needle, but it’s simply used to draw up the medication.

So, your dose will be 1-ml.  It is a little challenging to draw up because it is so thick, so just take your time and make sure you draw it up with no air bubbles.  Right here, I have 1-ml the top of my plunger lines up with the line of the “1”.  That’s the dose that you’ll be on once a day, every day.  Taking this out, you’re going to draw up a pocket of air, and then you’ll cap this, remove the 18-gauge needle, and replace it with the 22-gauge needle, which is the needle that you initially started with.   Make sure that it is on nice and tight and release that air bubble that you drew up because you don’t want to inject air into yourself.
