FAQ - PESA/TESA
The quantity and quality of sperm when obtained through PESA or TESA is not the same as that of normal ejaculate. You should have realistic expectations when choosing to move forward with sperm obtained through this procedure. Rest assured that our embryology team will choose the “best looking” sperm in your sample when fertilizing your eggs but we cannot guarantee fertilization and we typically see a difference in fertilization and embryo quality when using these samples.
***It is recommended that you schedule a “test” PESA first. This will be the best time to discuss with the urologist whether you and your partner should consider using a sperm donor as an alternate option.
If a PESA or TESA is needed: You are more than welcome to reach out to the financial team and they will be able to tell you the cost of a PESA.
