April & Ashley and James's Story:
My friend Ashley has struggled with infertility for 15 years. 2 years ago she asked me if I would try carrying for her (we have had lots of discussions in the past about her options). I was honored that she trusted me.
I spoke to my 12 yr old at the time and my husband and they told me to do whatever made me happy.
Now, I would not do this for just anybody, but Ashley and her husband James are 2 of the best people I have ever met! I went through all the testing in Sept/Oct 17. In Jan 18 I had our 1st transfer and we were beyond excited that it stuck..sadly around the 8/9 week mark we no longer had a heartbeat. I had a d&c, let me body rest a few months then started up the meds again and had our 2nd transfer on June 12 2018. He was delivered healthy at 37weeks 5 days;) Did I mention that I am 40!!
Favorite Team Member at CNY:
Every single nurse and I mean everyone of them we saw in Syracuse was amazing. They were so supportive.
Helpful resources April & Ashley and James found:
I had weekly acupuncture that I found amazing! I truly believe it helped him stick in there and kept my body on track.
Unique Moments:
The ultimate high was the day Connor was born. I was nervous the entire pregnancy that something would happen since we miscarried the 1st time. I carried for a friends in NY state. The low...the court system in its current state, what a joke. Judges with no knowledge on how surrogacy works.
Hope, Inspiration and Advice:
I would tell people that perseverance pays off...sometimes it takes 15 yrs and alternate options.
I feel as though i can't write this as well as saying it. please feel free to contact me to make more sense of it:)
