Brittany & Matthew's Story:
After being together for 11 years and married for 4, my husband and I decided it was time to grow our family. We began trying to conceive in 2018. Never did we imagine the obstacles we would face trying to make that dream a reality.
Six months after trying with no success, we both went to our doctors for advanced testing, and it was then that I was diagnosed with a Pituitary Tumor. The tumor was causing my prolactin levels to be too high to be able to conceive.
At this point, we had to put trying for our baby on hold, and I began treatment. After a year of medications, my levels were finally stable enough to start trying again.
Unfortunately, we continued to struggle, and in 2021 we took the next step and made an appointment with CNY Fertility.
I underwent an Endometrial Polypectomy at CNY in November of 2021. After all of the initial testing and procedures with CNY, I was diagnosed with Unexplained Infertility.
It was at this moment we knew we needed treatment to be able to conceive since we couldn’t on our own and chose to begin with IUI.
Our first IUI was in November 2021, and unfortunately, it failed. We did our second IUI in December 2021, and on New Year’s Eve, we received the news we’d been waiting to hear for four years….we were pregnant!!
New Year’s Eve will forever be our favorite holiday.

Favorite Team Member at CNY:
Dr. Chang was truly a blessing to work with. Based on my personal medical history and the treatments available, he helped guide us on the best course of action. He was so open and honest and made it easy to discuss what we were going through and what we thought we should be doing. He truly helped us understand our options and helped ease the anxiety of the unknown.
Helpful resources Brittany & Matthew found:
Yoga was my outlet of choice. It helped me to stay centered, calm and relaxed while navigating through my infertility journey. It’s also a great workout option to stay active when going through treatments.
The Moment:
The emotions you go through after years of trying with no success are indescribable. It’s mostly shock with a hint of disbelief when you hear the words you’re pregnant. After years of obstacles, hardships, and negative test after negative test, it just seemed impossible. And once the impossible was possible and we received that positive result, we couldn’t even begin to process the emotions and gratitude we felt. It was an amazing moment that we will never forget. It was the first ultrasound in my journey that I truly believed I was pregnant and it allowed me to take that much-needed breath of relief and realized one journey had now ended and another is beginning.
Hope, Inspiration and Advice:
Infertility takes a toll on your mind, body and relationship. To say it is an emotional rollercoaster is an understatement. It strengthens the person you are and solidifies the relationship you have with your partner.
The TTC community is larger than you realized. My advice for everyone still TTC is never to give up hope. Even on the darkest days, you have to keep fighting. This journey is hard, and there will be a lot of crying, you will get mad, and you will feel like it will never happen for you, but please stay strong and focus on yourself, your partner, and your plan.
Invest in yourself and continue to live life. Don’t let this journey stop you from living your best life and having beautiful moments along the way. Take care of your body and mind, and make yourself the priority. Out of difficulties grow miracles, and that miracle will happen for you!
The love I have for this community is insurmountable. I pray that all the TTC warriors find their happy ever after with their babies as we did with ours.
