Elise's Story:
In October 2019, I accidentally got pregnant with my partner and miscarried shortly after. In July 2020, I got pregnant again and miscarried again. At this point, my partner and I went our separate ways, and I looked into using donor sperm and choosing to become a single mom.
I did 4 IUI’s with my previous clinic, and all failed.
I moved on to IVF at CNY Syracuse, and my first round yielded only 7 eggs, and only 5 were mature. Three fertilized and I did a day three fresh transfer of 2 embryos in March 2021. My home test was positive but by the time my beta came around, my tests were negative and so was my beta. I was devastated.
I decided to put everything into a second round. I took a 3-month break and had a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy where the doctors found endometriosis.
I spent months researching reasons for the recurrent loss and ways to overcome it.
Nurse Justine Taylor was an angel through this process; I sent her countless emails with ideas, blood tests I thought I should have, and new medicines to try.
Round 2: Unfortunately I had worse results from an egg count standpoint. 7 eggs were collected, 2 mature, and both fertilized. On day 3, I had a transfer of those two embryos + my one remaining frozen embryo from round 1.
We added neupogen, HCG boosters, an HCG wash, and Intralipids transfusions. On the beta day, it was a big fat positive!!!
On March 10th, 2022 my son Artie was born! He is incredible, and I’m so glad that I gave it one more try!
Favorite Team Member at CNY:
Justine!! Without a doubt the best part of my IVF team. Always there, and I’m still in touch, sending her pictures and updates on Artie.
