Harmony & Kieran's Story:
We've been married now for 11 years and, like many couples, weren't ready to start a family right after the wedding. However, once we decided to start a family, it was frustrating that I wasn't getting pregnant month after month.
We finally did some testing with a local fertility clinic, which diagnosed our problem as male-factor infertility. Our insurance covered IUIs, so we tried that first and, unfortunately, had 3 unsuccessful rounds. Our doctor said it was unlikely we would have success unless we did IVF.
I saw CNY being discussed in an IVF/infertility support group on Facebook and found them to be quite affordable, even with having to travel.
In January 2024, I did my first egg retrieval. It resulted in no embryos. That was the lowest point in our journey to get pregnant. I felt pretty hopeless. We had a consult with Dr. Banerjee, who encouraged us to try again and offered a plan to help us work on egg and sperm quality. In June 2024, I had a second egg retrieval, and this time, we got three embryos!
I transferred a single embryo on August 22, 2024, and one week later, I had my first positive pregnancy test!

The Moment:
The moment I saw that positive pregnancy test I couldn't believe it. How was it positive that my first transfer worked?! I took several more tests that same day just to make sure it wasn't a faulty test.
Hope, Inspiration and Advice:
Doing fertility treatments can be a long journey. While it is important to set proper expectations, it is also imperative not to lose hope. Find a hobby and stay busy while you are going through fertility treatments.
