Maribel & Carl's Story:
My husband CJ and I started trying for a baby in 2018. We were not expecting to get pregnant right away, and we weren't in a hurry.
In 2020, we flew to Vegas, and we got married. Then We took the “job” seriously. I tried Clomid for two cycles, but it didn't work. So I found another doctor. This OBGYN did blood work and vaginal ultrasound and I was diagnosed with PCOS.
I scheduled an X-ray at the hospital where I was told one of my tubes was blocked. I was terrified but the doctor was cheerful and said all we needed was one open tube. Two days later, I received a call from my OBGYN. It only lasted five minutes, but that’s how long it took to flip my world upside down. Both of my tubes were blocked! I felt betrayed by my own body.
I researched fertility clinics around Maine and Massachusetts, but everything was extremely pricey. I almost gave up until a CNY ad appeared on my Facebook feed.
I immediately booked a phone appointment. The rest is history. My husband and I traveled from Maine to CNY Albany twice. Once for the egg retrieval and once for the Frozen transfer.
I had 12 eggs, of which 11 became embryos. We are so lucky that I got pregnant on the grounds of IVF. We are now a happy couple with a beautiful baby boy!
The Moment:
I was at work when I received the call. I was surrounded by babies--I worked at a daycare! I had to ask So, am I pregnant? And the lady on the other side of the phone said, “Very much so.”
