Mary & Matt's Story:
In 2017, my husband and I wanted to try for our last baby while he was still an active duty Marine. We thought it would be an easy process since our older children were conceived easily.
We later found out that wasn’t the case this time. One month after trying to conceive I had a miscarriage.
It was my first pregnancy loss and it really devastated me. I had never felt so low, so lost, but somehow I was still motivated to keep trying.
We tried for a year with no results. I went to two OBGYNs and endured cycle after cycle of failures.
I was later referred to a reproductive endocrinologist near me.
We went through more cycles, timed intercourse and two IUIs. At the end of it all, we had done 12 cycles with Clomid. Never receiving a positive.
The beginning of the pandemic I had a chemical pregnancy.
After that I took fate into my own hands and contacted CNY for the first time.
I spoke with Martha and she recommended a mini IVF cycle since my past history indicated I was prone to hyperstimulation.
On July 22, 2021 I had my egg retrieval! We received 14 mature eggs, and 7 fertilized and made it to blastocysts. We had 7 chances!
We decided to freeze them due to my estrogen being high, and in turn, that was the best choice.
August 16, 2021 was my frozen embryo transfer and 5 days later I was receiving positive home pregnancy tests!
And on April 28th, 2022, baby Hailey Amelia Rey was born. Our rainbow. Our miracle. Our everything.
I can’t thank CNY fertility enough for this miracle, and the miracles they do every single day.

Favorite Team Member at CNY:
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Corley, Dr. Banerjee, and Nurse Marnie at Syracuse.
Helpful resources Mary & Matt found:
I kept track of everything with a notebook, taking notes from every appointment.
Unique Moments:
The day before I got my positive pregnancy test, I went through a Starbucks drive through crying because I was so sure the cycle didn’t work. Low and behold it was pregnancy hormones making me cry!
My husband and I are originally from Syracuse NY! We were both born here, along with our daughter! We only moved to NC for my husbands military orders.
Hope, Inspiration and Advice:
I know the ideas of IVF/IVF medications are overwhelming, but I promise you it’s easy to get the hang of things! The best support I have found was other couples going through IVF, their experiences helped me with mine!
