My special journey
Contributed by Gretchen MulcaheyHello Everyone!! My name is Gretchen Mulcahey. I have 3 wonderful children: Timothy, Daniel and MaryMargaret (Maggie). My wonderful husband Patrick and I have been married for 16 years this June. All three of my children have been through IVF. Timothy is 10 yrs old and the twins are 4 yrs old. I had a great birth with Tim. I was a new mom and it was something I wanted more then ever. I traveled to Rochester with my husband to have the IVF done 10 years ago.
Then we found Dr. Kiltz. We got pregnant with the twins right away. I had a long hard labor. In the hospital I had cardiac arrest during labor. I was put on a ventilator for a couple of days with the twins still in me. Then the hospital did a c-section. Out came two miracles - Daniel and Maggie. Daniel was not breathing, he was brought to the NIC unit where they did a great job with him. Maggie was fine. I was not. I have a heart condition, diabetes, high blood pressure, and I'm on 22 pills a day and insulin. That I live with everyday. But, I'm alive and happy to be part of everyone's life I touch. Daniel needs my help everyday and every minute. He has Cerebral Palsy (due to the lack of oxygen durning the emercency at labor) so I don't have time to feel "poor me". I look at every day as a blessing that I'm here and sure do believe a higher power is helping me and my family deal with all the challenges we have dealt with and are ahead of us.
