Our Miracle Baby After Eleven Years
My husband and I got married in 1999, full of dreams and goals—having kids was one of them! As the years went by, we tried to get pregnant naturally, but it never happened. To make a long story short, we both faced fertility issues. My husband had a thyroid problem that caused hormonal imbalances, and I had endometriosis without knowing it. I underwent surgery in 2006, but we still didn’t get pregnant. We then tried four cycles of IUI, all unsuccessful.
We saved enough money for IVF and made an appointment with Dr. Kiltz, as our health insurance didn’t cover fertility treatments. In May of 2011, we attempted our first IVF cycle, but it didn’t work. I was heartbroken and needed a break from all the medications and appointments to clear my mind.
Despite the setback, we wanted to try again. In March 2012, we decided to move forward. However, an ultrasound revealed two fibroids in my uterus. Instead of proceeding with the treatment, we—together with the staff—decided to schedule surgery to remove the fibroids. Dr. Kiltz wanted to ensure that the next IVF cycle would be successful, and I needed a healthy uterus. I underwent surgery in May 2012, and the myomectomy was a success!
After waiting a few months, we proceeded with our second IVF cycle. We retrieved 14 eggs, 12 fertilized, and we had two five-day blasts transferred, with four more frozen. For the first time in my life, after eleven years of tears, challenges, and sacrifices, I was pregnant. What a joy!
My pregnancy was perfect, with no complications. I cherished every single day as I awaited my miracle baby. On April 30th, 2013, at 2:07 pm, Abiel Jesse Martinez was born, weighing 8 pounds and measuring 21 inches long.
We are blessed beyond words and forever grateful to Dr. Kiltz and his staff for helping us achieve the family we always wanted. Never give up. Keep the faith and hope!
Muchas gracias, CNYFC.
