Rachel & John's Story:
We met later in life. I was 39. By the time we were ready to have a child, I was 42. Naturally, we ran into problems due to my age, fertility, and health and also to my partner’s fertility.
After several failed IVF rounds with our own genetic embryos, we were able to receive donated embryos from another family at the clinic.
One of these (the last) was successful and we had our child when I was newly 45!
They are almost seven years old now, and we cannot imagine life without them. We are forever grateful for the generosity and trust of the people who donated the embryos.
Hope, Inspiration and Advice:
Embryo donation is a miracle of science. It seems to me now that Alder was meant to be ours all along. The idea that they became our child through the trusting love of another family (plus an egg donor!) only makes Alder’s existence more of a joy.
